About Aaron Neville: The third youngest of the famous four Neville brothers--Art, Charles, Aaron and Cyril -- Aaron was born in 1941 into one of New Orleans' most celebrated musical families. Aaron first burned his way up the national charts in 1966, when his "Tell It Like It Is" hit number-one. He has had four top-20 hits in the United States (including three that went to number one on Billboard's adult contemporary chart and one that went to number one on the R&B chart) along with four platinum-certified albums. Aaron has recorded with his brothers as The Neville Brothers, and is the father of singer/bassist Ivan Neville. He long ago established his status with a singular style marked by a rare and haunting vibrato. The Neville Brothers will resume the group's traditional set at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival this year after a lengthy hiatus, members say.

That's the opening line of "Louisiana 1927," which has become the state's unofficial anthem in the wake of the 2005 tragedy.
Aaron Neville, part of the Neville Brothers singing group from New Orleans, said he hasn't been back to his beloved city, but images of flood waters show it has turned into a "toxic gumbo."
