Tokyo, March 19 (Jiji Press)--Asahi Kasei Chemicals Corp. said Wednesday it will build plants to produce materials for making acrylic fibers and synthetic resin, through a joint venture in Thailand.

BUDAPEST, Hungary, March 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Zoltek Companies, Inc. and the Hungarian Government today announced their joint commitment to a major expansion plan to turn Zoltek's facility 30 miles west of Budapest into the world's largest carbon fiber production facility.
Acrylic fibers have entered a phase of a steep rise for the first time since 1995. Rising prices last year maintained their upward momentum. In the prevailing environment, however, it is difficult to increase finished products prices.
According to the Japan Chemical Fibers Association, the nation's manmade fiber production in August increased by 1.8% compared to the same month of the previous year to 108,574 tons, of which synthetic fibers increased by 1% to 95,560 tons.
