The Red Sox could have clinched the American League wild-card berth with a win, as their magic number is one. Lind had his first career three-homer game, hitting one in the first, fifth and seventh innings.
Texas Rangers outfielder Marlon Byrd was named the American League Player of the Week Monday. Byrd batted .320 while tying for the AL lead with three homers and a league-high 11 RBI during the seven-day period. Byrd's best day of the week was in a 15-3 win over Tampa Bay Saturday, when he hit two home runs -- including his sixth career grand slam -- while driving in five runs. Byrd, 32, won his second career weekly honor.
Rod Barajas hit an eighth-inning RBI double Sunday, rallying Toronto to a 5-4 victory against Seattle. Toronto overcame a 3-0 fifth-inning deficit.
