SAN FRANCISCO -- Google Inc. has hired Internet pioneer Vinton Cerf to float more ideas and develop new products, adding another weapon to the online search engine leader's rapidly growing arsenal of intellect.

Other notable hires by Google Inc.: Louis Monier - Oversaw research and development at eBay Inc., where he developed a new search engine for the online auctioneer; also a key part of the brain trust that created the Web's first groundbreaking search engine, AltaVista, which Digital Equipment Corp.
