NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly confirmed Saturday the league is investigating two Montreal players involving a recent sting operation. Daly told Hockey Night in Canada's Jeff Marek the league is investigating a report in Friday's edition of La Presse.

Sergei Gonchar scored his first goal this season Thursday to break up a tie game 7:18 into the third period and give Pittsburgh a 5-4 win over Montreal. Gonchar appeared in only his third game after having shoulder surgery last summer.
