Anna Nordqvist shot 3-under 69 Saturday to take a one-stroke lead after two rounds of the LPGA Safeway Classic. Nordqvist completed 36 holes at 10-under 134.
Beth Bader, seeking her first victory her ninth LPGA Tour season, took the lead Friday after one round of the Safeway Classic. Bader birdied half the holes on the Ghost Course of the Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club and shot an 8-under 64. That gave her a one-shot lead over Seon Hwa Lee and Anna Nordqvist, a member of the losing European squad at last week's Solheim Cup. Angela Stanford, who won the first point for the United States in Sunday's Solheim Cup singles matches, shared fourth place at 66 with Janice Moodie, Stacy Prammanasudh, Candie Kung and Moria Dunn. Michelle Wie was among those tied for 11th at 68.
Morgan Pressel's 3 and 2 win over Anna Nordqvist Sunday clinched a third straight United States victory in the Solheim Cup. The American team ended up with a 16-12 advantage in the competition at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill. Overall, the United States leads the cup competition 8-1.
Europe scored 2 1/2 points in Saturday's fourball matches to even up the United States-Europe women's Solheim Cup at 6-6. Christina Kim and Michelle Wie beat Europe's Helen Alfredsson and Tania Elosegui, 5-and-4, in the first match. Wie and Kim were the only winners for the Americans.
