THOUSANDS of Polish migrants working in the North East have lost their direct link with home. Wizz Air has decided to axe its twice-weekly flights from Durham Tees Valley Airport to the Polish capital of Warsaw. The move has been blamed on the current economic crisis.
DOOR-to-door collections to help householders get rid of waste start this month, thanks to a community-led initiative. The collections will offer residents in Annfield Plain, Greencroft and New Kyo in Derwentside the opportunity to clear their gardens and yards of waste, free of charge.
BATTLE lines are being drawn over plans to opencast 68 hectares of land on the edge of two villages.
