Italian engineering company Saipem, which is owned by integrated energy major Eni, has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction contract worth E2.8 billion for a single-train liquefied natural gas plant in Arzew, Algeria, by the state-run Algerian oil and gas company Sonatrach.

According to Al-Khabar newspaper (July 13, 2008), the Algerian state-owned company Sonatrach has recently awarded a $4 billion contract to the British-Indonesian consortium, Petrofac-IKPT, to build a liquefied natural gas LNG plant in Arzew near Oran western province.

According to El-Khabar newspaper (June 2, 2008), Algeria's state- run oil and gas company Sonatrach yesterday signed a joint venture agreement with the Spanish conglomerate Vertiberia to build an ammonia factory in Arzew by a $1 billion costs.

By Anonymous Sonatrach has awarded Saipem a contract to lay a pipeline for transporting LPG from the central Algerian gas field at Hassi R'mel to the oil export area of Arzew, in northwestern Algeria, on the Mediterranean coast. The contract is worth 285 million euro.
