Austrian Airlines has announced that it will launch four new flights a week to Amman, Jordan from May 6, 2009 onwards. The airline said that the new flights to Amman will be operated using an Airbus A320 aircraft on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
The Austrian Airlines Group has reported that it is aiming at a reduction of the Canadair CRJ fleet in the medium-term, in order to partially replace these 50-seat aircraft with 80-100-seat aircraft. For this, a Canadair CRJ should be handed over and be replaced with an additional Fokker 100.
Austrian Airlines has reported that it has transported 725,000 passengers in scheduled and charter services in January 2008, an increase of 1.2% compared to January 2007. The total passenger load factor for scheduled and charter flights was 69.6%, down 3.5% points.
Austrian Airlines Group, which has carried around 8.2 million scheduled passengers in 2007, has reported a solid increase of 8.4% in the short- and medium-haul segment in the year 2007 compared to 2006.
