NEW HOPE, Pa., Aug. 12 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Florence Foster Jenkins, the quirky and popular female soprano, who became famous in the 1940's for her lack of musical ability, will take center stage in Souvenir, the funny, yet touching play by Stephen Temperley.
John Tartaglia is set to lead the cast of The New Fangled Variety Show for two performances in New York, show representatives said. The event will be taped before a live audience Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. at Comix in New York.
The David Mamet play Oleanna, starring Bill Pullman and Julia Stiles, is Broadway-bound after its Los Angeles run, Variety reported Tuesday. The show business publication said the Mamet play, which was first performed in 1992, would take up residence Oct.
Actor John Tartaglia says Broadway's Shrek the Musical, like the animated movies that inspired it, offers something for audience members of all ages. Tartaglia told UPI in a recent phone interview he thinks one of the reasons the films are so appealing is that they work on many different levels. The show kind of takes that even further, Tartaglia said.
Grey's Anatomy star Chandra Wilson will play Matron Mama Morton in Chicago, representatives for the long-running Broadway revival said. The three-time Emmy Award nominee will join the production for a limited engagement June 8 through July 5 at the Ambassador Theatre in New York. A Houston native, Wilson began performing in musicals at the age of 5 with Theatre Under the Stars and went on to earn her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where she spent four years training at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute.
