Ben Francisco's three-run homer ignited a Cleveland rally Wednesday and the Indians survived a long rain delay to defeat Tampa Bay 12-7. Tampa Bay lost its fourth straight and has suffered 16 consecutive setbacks in Cleveland. The Rays scored five times in the first inning in a game delayed for two hours by rain, but the Indians came back with five of their own in the second. The Cleveland Indians, led by Ryan Garko's two home runs and five RBI, rallied Monday to edge the Tampa Bay Rays 11-10. Victor Martinez's two-run single capped a seven-run ninth inning for Cleveland, which has won 14 straight home games against Tampa Bay. Grady Sizemore and Ben Francisco also had an RBI apiece for the Indians. Jeremy Sowers (1-2) got the win after giving up just three hits in the last five innings. Gabe Gross had a homer and three RBI for the Rays.
Mark DeRosa had four hits and scored the winning run in Cleveland's 9-8 win over Boston Tuesday when pitcher Javier Lopez dropped a throw to first base. DeRosa, who homered and scored four runs, raced in from third with two outs as Lopez (0-2) failed to handle the throw from Kevin Youklis who had made a diving stop of Asdrubal Cabrera's grounder up the first-base line. The loss snapped the Red Sox' 11-game winning streak.
