The North Dakota Highway Patrol this Labor Day holiday weekend is taking part in a nationwide crackdown on impaired driving. The stepped-up enforcement will continue through Monday. Troopers also will be focusing on traffic violations that contribute to crashes, and on safety restraint violations.
The North Dakota Game and Fish Department will enhance enforcement on the Missouri River this weekend by having more game wardens than usual in the Bismarck-Mandan area. Robert Timian, chief of enforcement, said wardens will be noticeable during the long Labor Day weekend.
A group that funds developers of North Dakota farm products is giving money to six projects. The quarterly grants from the Agricultural Products Utilization Commission, a state Commerce Department program better known as APUC, total nearly $134,000.

Douglas D. Moffit, 73, Bismarck, died June 6, 2008, at a Mandan care center. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, at McCabe United Methodist Church, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
