Nigel Dawes scored the game-winning goal Monday when the New York Rangers used a four-goal third period to edge the New York Islanders, 5-4. Scott Gomez had a goal and one assist for the Rangers, who scored five goals in regulation for only the third time all season.

Simon Gagne's power-play goal late in the third period Tuesday gave the Philadelphia Flyers a 4-3 victory over the New York Islanders. Darroll Powe, Jeff Carter and Arron Asham also scored for the Flyers, who have won three of their last four games. Mike Richards had two assists.
