A COMMUNITY fun day was held yesterday in aid of the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation. Families enjoyed a host of activities and entertainment at Mainsforth Cricket Club, in Ferryhill, County Durham, in return for donations to the charity.

By Gavin Havery FORMER football manager Sir Bobby Robson yesterday handed over a cheque for his first [pounds]500,000 to fund cancer research and clinical trials in the North-East.

SIR Bobby Robson revved up to help cancer patients by supporting a bid for a new minibus. He celebrated with staff at Marie Cure Cancer Care after they raised pounds 30,000 to buy the minibus for the Newcastle hospice.

SIR Bobby Robson yesterday returned to the village where he learnt to play football to start a sponsored walk in aid of his charity. More than 150 people braved the rain to set off from Langley Park Cricket Club, in County Durham, to raise money for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.
