The Virginian-Pilot Bodie Island Spit at Oregon Inlet reopened on Wednesday to off- road vehicles, just in time for the Labor Day weekend.

ONGOING Bird Walks. Take a stroll along the North Pond Wildlife Trail and look for approximately 225 species of birds that live or pass through Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge. Meet at Pea Island Visitor Center at 8 a.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
