Golden State guard Monta Ellis will miss the rest of the season with a bone bruise on his left ankle. The Contra Costa Times reported Saturday the diagnosis was made after an MRI examination, and because there is no structural damage, doctors told him to stay off his feet for the next two weeks. Ellis had been limited by off-season surgery on the same ankle, which was severely sprained in a scooter accident near his Jackson, Miss., hometown. He played in just 25 games with averages of 19 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists per contest. He's gotten himself back to where he's the same player that we had before, Coach Don Nelson said.

Brandan Wright poured in 25 points Friday and the Golden State Warriors used a third-quarter run to defeat Philadelphia 119-111. Wright made 10-of-13 shots from the field and all five of his foul shots in helping the Warriors bounce back from a close loss to the Los Angeles Lakers Thursday. Monta Ellis added 21 and Anthony Morrow had 16 for Golden State. The 76ers got 16 points from Thaddeus Young. Golden State went on a 13-2 run during the middle stages of the third period to take a 77-64 lead.

Kobe Bryant led all scorers with 31 points Sunday night and the Los Angeles Lakers outgunned Golden State 130-113 for their fourth straight win. The Lakers shot 51.6 percent from the field, with Derek Fisher scoring 19 points, Sasha Vujacic getting 17, and Andrew Bynum getting 13 points to go with 10 rebounds. Jamal Crawford led the Warriors with 22 points and five assists.
