Bobby Abreu's 10th-inning homer produced the lone run Sunday and gave the Los Angeles Angels a 1-0 win over Oakland. Starters John Lackey of the Angels and Oakland's Brett Anderson were locked in a scoreless dual through eight innings before closer and losing pitcher Andrew Bailey (4-2) entered in the top of the ninth. Abreu's homer, his seventh of the season, settled the issue with one out in the top of the 10th.
Brett Anderson hurled seven scoreless innings and the Oakland bullpen followed suit Thursday, sending the Athletics to a 7-0 win over the Chicago White Sox. Anderson (3-5), a rookie left-hander, gave up six hits, did not walk a batter and struck out four in 109 pitches.
