Wildlife experts reported Friday that a toxic chemical produced by algae has been found in some sick California brown pelicans. The birds have been found in record numbers along the West Coast in recent weeks.
By Anonymous Hurricane Gustav resulted in at least 33 oil spills, ranging from simple sheens to 8,000-gallon spills, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said today. Most of the oil spills were sheens, not slicks, so were of minimal wildlife concern, the agency said.
