By RICH HEWITT; OF THE NEWS STAFF BUCKSPORT - As part of the town's effort to develop alternative energy sources, officials are looking at the possibility of extending natural gas to the downtown area.

BUCKSPORT - Bucksport Bay Healthy Communities Coalition will sponsor a six-week program to assist residents living with chronic illness, beginning on Monday, Sept. 22. Sessions of the Living Well Program will run from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Jewett Community Center.

While I appreciate Emily Burnham's article (BDN, July 26-27) about vacationing near home this summer, I must point out that neither Fort Knox nor the Penobscot Narrows Bridge is in Bucksport. Fort Knox is still in Prospect and the bridge spans water between Prospect and Verona Island.

By RICH HEWITT; OF THE NEWS STAFF BUCKSPORT - The last weekend in July is coming up, and in Bucksport that means it's time for the annual Bucksport Bay Festival. The festival kicks off on Thursday night, July 24, and gets into full swing on Friday with the arrival of the U.S.
