By Jay Rey Buffalo charter schools, once considered an experiment, posted some of the highest state test scores in the city this year. At a couple of charter schools, results in math and English were among the best of any schools in Erie and Niagara counties.

Several area high schools recently were removed from the state's list of schools in need of improvement, including Buffalo's McKinley High School and Emerson School of Hospitality. Both of those schools were taken off the watch list after two years of improvement in math test scores.
