News - Buick Invitational
The PGA Tour and Buick said Tuesday that all working agreements between the two have ended and the Buick Open and Buick Invitational will no longer be played. The PGA Tour is expected to announce the Buick Open's replacement on its 2010 schedule Wednesday.
John Rollins shot a 2-under 70 Saturday, taking a three-stroke lead after the third round of the PGA Buick Invitational. Rollins, who had a 64 Friday, finished 54 holes at the South Course at Torrey Pines at 12-under 204.
Camilo Villegas opened with a 9-under-par 63 Thursday and holds a 3-stroke advantage at the PGA Buick Invitational in La Jolla, Calif. The 63 equaled Villegas' PGA career-best single-round total and came after he missed the cut at last week's FBR Open. Play rotates over the easier North Course and the South Course, where Tiger Woods won an epic 19-hole playoff over Rocco Mediate at last year's U.S.
The U.S. Open, San Diego style, brought morning fog that clung to the cliffs and spilled over to Torrey Pines Golf Course when Tiger Woods showed up for another nine-hole session Tuesday. The setting could not have been more appropriate.
