Miami Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington is to undergo a third surgery to his right shoulder Friday. The 10-year NFL veteran suffered a season-ending dislocated shoulder and damage to his rotator cuff when San Diego linebacker Kevin Burnett hit him in the third quarter Sunday. Pennington, 33, has been placed on the season-ending Injured Reserve List. It's very disheartening to lose any player and Chad's no different, Coach Tony Sparano told reporters Wednesday.
The Miami Dolphins acquired quarterback Tyler Thigpen from the Kansas City Chiefs on Tuesday in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick.
