By Cindy Horswell, Houston Chronicle Feb. 6--The Federal Aviation Administration was trying to unravel Tuesday what caused a single-engine Cessna 210 to crash into a patch of trees, killing the 49-year-old pilot from Louisiana less than a mile from a private Chambers County airport.

The Meridian Resource Corporation (NYSE:TMR) announced it has completed the purchase of all of Vintage Petroleum's offshore Texas assets including both producing and exploration properties for $21 million in cash and common stock.
