CULVER CITY, Calif., March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Principal photography commences this week on the Columbia Pictures production Salt, an espionage action thriller starring Angelina Jolie (Wanted, Changeling, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Bone Collector).

The African-American Film Critics Association says The Dark Knight is its movie of the year thanks, in part, to the late Australian actor Heath Ledger. The critics group announced Friday the newest movie about the comic book hero Batman beat out all other 2008 contenders abetted by Ledger's best supporting actor award-winning performance, Ledger, the Los Angeles Times reported. Ledger plays Batman's nemesis, the Joker, in the action-drama.

The Women Film Critics Circle has named Hollywood's Changeling the year's best movie about women. Frozen River, directed by Courtney Hunt, was declared the best movie made by a woman, while its star Melissa Leo won the best actress award.

John Malkovich and Hugh Laurie, actors known primarily for their dramatic work, are to be guest hosts on Saturday Night Live in New York, NBC announced. Malkovich agreed to make his third appearance on the sketch comedy show Saturday after turning in a pair of critically acclaimed 2008 performances in Clint Eastwood's Changeling, opposite Angelina Jolie, and in the Coen Brothers' comedy Burn After Reading, co-starring Jolie's partner Brad Pitt. Malkovich's other film credits include Being John Malkovich, In The Line of Fire, Of Mice and Men, Dangerous Liaisons, Empire of the Sun, The Killing Fields and Places in the Heart.
