Anibal Sanchez pitched eight shutout innings and Dan Uggla and Cody Ross hit solo home runs Tuesday to give the Florida Marlins a 3-0 win over Philadelphia. Pedro Feliz had two hits and one RBI Sunday, leading the Philadelphia Phillies to a rain-delayed 4-2 over the Atlanta Braves. The contest was one of Sunday's longest because of a rain delay of almost two hours at Atlanta's Turner Field. Feliz hit a one-out RBI single in the top of the fourth, giving Philadelphia a 3-1 lead.
Joe Blanton threw six shutout innings Wednesday and Jayson Werth hit a grand slam, carrying Philadelphia to a 6-1 win over Washington. The Phillies won their fourth in a row and remained seven games in front of Florida in the National League East. Blanton (10-7) won for the first time since Aug.
