Chuck Daly, who coached the Detroit Pistons to back-to-back NBA titles, died Saturday of pancreatic cancer at the age of 78. Daly, who was diagnosed with cancer in March, died in Jupiter, Fla., surrounded by his family.

Former Detroit Pistons Coach Chuck Daly has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, a family spokesman said Friday. Daly led Detroit to championships in 1989 and 1990 and also coached the so-called Dream Team that won the Olympic gold medal for the United States in 1992. Chuck is being treated for the cancer and the family is requesting privacy, spokesman Matt Dobek said.
