The Kansas City Royals have lost veteran outfielder Jose Guillen for as long as eight weeks because of a freak right knee injury, the team said Friday. Guillen was injured before his first at-bat in Wednesday's 9-6 loss to the Los Angeles Angels.

Brian Bannister allowed four hits over six shutout innings Wednesday and out-dueled Cliff Lee in helping bring Kansas City a 2-0 win over Cleveland. Bannister (1-0) was recalled from Class AAA Omaha Tuesday when Doug Waechter went on the disabled list with a strained elbow.
