Sherron Collins scored 25 points Sunday, carrying Kansas to a 60-43 second-round NCAA Tournament victory over Dayton in Minneapolis. In a low-scoring first half, the Jayhawks (27-7), the defending national champions and the third seed in the Midwest Region, took a 29-23 lead into the locker room. A 9-0 run, capped by Tyshawn Taylor's layup, gave KU a 44-30 advantage with 8:33 remaining and a determined Dayton had no answer the rest of the way. The Jayhawks' 6-foot-11, 245-pound sophomore center, Cole Aldrich, dominated underneath with a triple-double -- 13 points, 20 rebounds and 10 blocked shots. KU next plays either Michigan State or Southern California at the Sweet 16 Friday at Indianapolis. Chris Wright and Mickey Wright, the only players to reach double figures, scored 10 points each to lead the 11th-seeded Flyers (27-8), who had advanced by upsetting No.

The defending national champions sealed the contest at the Metrodome in Minneapolis when Collins sank six consecutive free throws and Cole Aldrich converted a 3-point play in the waning stages. Kansas built a 43-34 halftime lead but was unable to shake the 14th-seeded Bison mainly because Ben Woodside scored 37 points on 13-of-23 shooting. Aldrich scored 23 points with 11 rebounds for the third-seeded Jayhawks (26-7), who face either Dayton or West Virginia in Sunday's second round. The Bison were down 62-59 but Collins hit a 3-point shot, Brady Morningstar dropped in a layup and Aldrich made two free throws that put Kansas up 69-59 with 5:54 left.
