Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych outlined his views on reforming the constitution and passing laws to clearly divide authorities among the branches of power. He particularly stressed the need for independent courts and clear delineation of power between the president and the Cabinet of Ministers.
KYIV. May 27 (Interfax) - The political crisis in Ukraine proved the necessity to amend the Constitution, Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko said.
President Viktor Yushchenko has presented the ruling coalition with his demands to settle the current political crisis in Ukraine. If Yushchenko's demands are not met, he promised to disband parliament.
KYIV. March 30 (Interfax) - The National Salvation Committee has urged Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko to dissolve parliament and immediately start a nationwide debate on the adoption of a new wording of the constitution.
