By Winthrop Quigley Journal Staff Writer PNM Resources and the buyer of its natural gas business -- Continental Energy Systems -- have agreed to freeze a small portion of customer gas bills for three years as part of a deal designed to win regulatory approval for the sale.

PNM Resources and Continental Energy Systems have mutually agreed to terminate PNM Resources' pending acquisition of Cap Rock Energy, a regulated Texas electric distribution and transmission subsidiary of Continental.

By Bob Quick, The Santa Fe New Mexican Jan. 16--Santa Fe County's roughly 48,000 natural gas customers shouldn't notice a difference in service and -- at least for now -- price when PNM Resources sells its gas operations, the buyer's top executive said Tuesday.
