Golden State guard Monta Ellis will miss the rest of the season with a bone bruise on his left ankle. The Contra Costa Times reported Saturday the diagnosis was made after an MRI examination, and because there is no structural damage, doctors told him to stay off his feet for the next two weeks. Ellis had been limited by off-season surgery on the same ankle, which was severely sprained in a scooter accident near his Jackson, Miss., hometown. He played in just 25 games with averages of 19 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists per contest. He's gotten himself back to where he's the same player that we had before, Coach Don Nelson said.

Monta Ellis scored 29 points Tuesday as Golden State raced past the Los Angeles Clippers 127-120. Ellis also contributed six assists and five rebounds.

Jamal Crawford led a fourth-quarter surge Wednesday that rallied Golden State to a 116-112 win over New Jersey. The Nets, beginning a five-game road trip, missed a chance to move into the eighth and final playoff position in the Eastern Conference.
