A team including 20 chain-saw operators from Southern Arizona is in Texas prepared to assist in the cleanup of damage from Hurricane Ike.

Firefighters fought and monitored several fires Sunday in the Coronado National Forest and Saguaro National Park. No structures were damaged, and there were no injuries, officials said. The Nuevo and White Tank fires, five miles west of Tubac, have burned about 9,600 acres in Coronado forest.

By The Arizona Daily Star, Tucson Jun. 22--The Forest Service is asking for public comment on the proposed Rosemont copper mine in the Santa Rita Mountains. A meeting is set for June 30 at the Rincon High School auditorium, 422 N. Arcadia Ave., for oral comments.

A wildfire on the north side of Mount Graham in Frye Canyon burned about 400 acres of brush Tuesday. The fire, dubbed the Frye Mesa Fire, began Tuesday afternoon during a prescribed burn, said Heidi Schewel, a spokeswoman for the Coronado National Forest.
