Within its evening newscasts on 3 June, Baghdad Al-Iraqiyah Television in Arabic highlighted the current debate on the proposed long-term Iraqi-US agreement, an Iraqi cabinet meeting at which this agreement was discussed, and a statement by Iraqi Government Spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh in which he says: "We in Iraq are definitely not obligated to sign an agreement that would infringe on Iraq's sovereignty." He also says that "there needs to be national consensus on whatever is agreed upon." Within its 1700 gmt newscast on 3 June, Baghdad Al-Iraqiyah Television in Arabic carries the following reports: - "Iraqi Government Official Spokesman Dr Ali al-Dabbagh has announced that during its regular session today, Tuesday, the Council of Ministers reviewed the government's stand towards the negotiations and talks under way on the Iraqi-US agreement.
