By CLARE WEIR THE strike shutdown at City of Derry airport next week - at the height of the holiday season -prompted fears of chaos for tourists today.

By MIRROR REPORTER AN upturned lorry lies on its side yesterday as 20,000 litres of fuel spill on to the street. A major clear-up was continuing last night after the truck crashed near Newbuildings, Co Derry.

By Brendan McDaid It has been recommended that there is "insufficient grounds" for a full investigation into the closure of City of Derry Airport in May 2007.

But the problems at the airport have not arisen because councillors have been running the show but precisely because councillors have been doing no such thing. City of Derry Airport has long been run as a private concern.

Council chiefs in Londonderry were today locked in discussions with the Civil Aviation Authority after flights were suspended to and from the city's airport because of safety concerns.
