NUNEATON and Bedworth have taken a major step towards achieving the status of a "Fairtrade" borough. A steering group has been set up and the borough council has adopted a resolution to support the work of Fairtrade, which seeks to improve the lives of people in Third World countries.
STAFF at Twycross Zoo, near Nuneaton, will tend the animals in their care while wearing bright pink outfits. The unusual dress code will be introduced for one day only, Tuesday, October 28, to support Breast Cancer Awareness Day.

A RENOWNED filmmaker and a TV newsreader have become patrons of Nuneaton's Mary Ann Evans Hospice. The Nuneaton-born film director Ken Loach has joined the board of patrons, along with BBC newsreader Kay Alexander, who lives in north Warwickshire.
MEN throughout Nuneaton and Bedworth are being offered the chance to be screened for a cancer which claims 10,000 lives a year in Britain. Staff at Nuneaton's George Eliot Hospital will be giving up their free time to hold a prostate cancer awareness day on Saturday, October 18.
