Guzman had one RBI and Willingham had two hits for the Nationals, who broke their three-game losing streak. The winner was reliever Julian Tavarez (2-4), while Joe Beimel earned his first save.
Gary Sheffield hit a three-run homer for the second straight game Tuesday to lead the New York Mets to a 6-1 win over the Washington Nationals. Livan Hernandez (4-1) allowed one run on nine hits with six strikeouts in the first complete game of the season for New York, which has won four of it last five.
TORONTO - Jacque Jones hit a tiebreaking home run in the ninth inning and the Minnesota Twins beat the Toronto Blue Jays 9-5 on Monday night. Lew Ford and Torii Hunter also homered for the Twins, who have won six of seven.
