Mike MacDougal got Robinson Cano to ground into a game-ending double play Wednesday, preserving Washington's 3-2 win over the New York Yankees. The Nationals ended a four-game losing streak and won for just the 17th time this season.

Cristian Guzman scored on an eighth-inning error Thursday, boosting the Washington Nationals to a 3-2 victory against the Cincinnati Reds. With two on and one out, and Cincinnati leading 2-1, Ryan Zimmerman grounded into a fielder's choice, Josh Willingham scored from third base and Guzman scored from second when Cincinnati's Brandon Phillips threw wildly past first for an error. Guzman had one RBI and Willingham had two hits for the Nationals, who broke their three-game losing streak. The winner was reliever Julian Tavarez (2-4), while Joe Beimel earned his first save.

Gary Sheffield hit a three-run homer for the second straight game Tuesday to lead the New York Mets to a 6-1 win over the Washington Nationals. Livan Hernandez (4-1) allowed one run on nine hits with six strikeouts in the first complete game of the season for New York, which has won four of it last five.

TORONTO - Jacque Jones hit a tiebreaking home run in the ninth inning and the Minnesota Twins beat the Toronto Blue Jays 9-5 on Monday night. Lew Ford and Torii Hunter also homered for the Twins, who have won six of seven.
