By GORDON JACKSON ST. MARYS, Ga. - Nearly four years after Congress passed legislation requiring five to eight daily motorized tours to the north end of Cumberland Island, the National Park Service has released a plan to meet the mandate.
By KEVIN TURNER FERNANDINA BEACH -- A proposed water taxi service connecting Fernandina Beach to St. Marys, Ga., has been delayed for about a month while the Coast Guard inspects the boat.
Atlanta-based Tidewater Plantations, Inc. has begun selling lots at Laurel Island, a coastal community just west of Cumberland Island off the coast of Georgia. There is currently a limited supply of the 55 Founders' Lots available for purchasing. The lots will start at a price of $700,000 each.
