Ian White scored the game-winning goal in the second period Wednesday and Curtis Joseph stopped 32 shots, giving Toronto a 3-2 win over Philadelphia. The Maple Leafs won for the third time in five games, also getting goals from Jamal Mayers and Lee Tempniak. Toronto, however, will miss the playoffs for the fourth straight year, the longest drought in the history of one of the original members of the NHL.

Jeff Hamilton scored the lone goal of an overtime shootout on the Leafs' first shot Tuesday, delivering Toronto a 3-2 win over Washington. Toronto substitute goaltender Curtis Joseph stopped a shot by Alex Ovechkin to end the game. Hamilton beat Jose Theodore with a wrist shot to open the shootout. Pavel Kubina scored for Toronto and Phil Oreskovic tallied his first NHL goal for the Maple Leafs, who have won four of their last five games. Toronto's starting goalie Martin Gerber made 34 stops before being ejected late in regulation.
