The New York Knicks sent veteran swingman Quentin Richardson and cash to the Memphis Grizzlies Thursday in exchange for forward Darko Milicic. Richardson, 29, averaged 10.2 points and 4.4 rebounds over 72 contests last season.

Mike Conley's 20 points Sunday led the Memphis Grizzlies' 89-84 win over the injury-depleted Detroit Pistons. Memphis built a commanding 57-40 halftime lead, and was able to play just enough defense after Antonio McDyess's jumper put Detroit ahead 78-77 with 5:16 left. Rudy Gay added 15 points with five rebounds and former Piston Darko Milicic scored 12 with 11 rebounds.

The Utah Jazz, inspired by the return of Andrei Kirilenko who scored 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting in 17 1/2 minutes, knocked off Memphis 117-99 Tuesday. Besides Kirilenko, who had missed 11 games following ankle surgery, the Jazz got 24 points from C.J.

O.J. Mayo scored 32 points Wednesday and Memphis held Houston scoreless for the game's final 4:16 to defeat the Rockets 104-93. After losing 12 in a row, the Grizzlies have won back-to-back games. Rudy Gay chipped in 18 points and Hakim Warrick had 17 for Memphis, which welcomed back Darko Milicic.

The NBA's Memphis Grizzlies confirmed the firing of Coach Marc Iavaroni Friday in the midst of a seven-game losing streak. Iavaroni became the Grizzlies' coach in May 2007 after five seasons as an assistant with Phoenix, but had no prior experience as a head coach. He is the seventh NBA coach fired since the 2008-09 season started in October. His overall record was just 33-90, including 11-30 this season.
