San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson will miss his second straight game Sunday because of a right ankle sprain. The nine-year veteran missed last week's 31-26 loss to Baltimore after suffering the injury in San Diego's season-opening 24-20 win over Oakland. It marks only the third time
Baltimore's Joe Flacco passed for two touchdowns and Willis McGahee ran for two others Sunday in a 31-26 Ravens victory over the San Diego Chargers. Flacco connected on 17-of-26 passes for 190 yards, including a 27-yard TD toss to Kelley Washington and a 9-yarder to Todd Heap.
Injuries in last week's NFL season-openers likely will cause both Philadelphia quarterback Donovan McNabb and San Diego running back to miss Week 2. McNabb sustained a fractured rib when the Eagles routed the Carolina Panthers 37-10.
San Diego drove 89 yards, capped by Darren Sproles' 5-yard burst into the end zone on a draw with 18 seconds left Monday, to pull off a 24-20 win over Oakland. The winning nine-play drive came after the Raiders had gone ahead when JaMarcus Russell threw a 57-yard TD pass to Louis Murphy on fourth-and-14
Pittsburgh's Willie Parker ran for two TD's and Santonio Holmes scored on a 67-yard punt return Sunday in a 35-24 Steelers' AFC playoff win over San Diego. The Steelers (13-4) and arch-rival Baltimore Ravens will clash in Pittsburgh next week to decide who goes to the Super Bowl as AFC champion. San Diego (9-9) scored first on a 41-yard Philip Rivers pass to Vincent Jackson and had a 10-7 lead before the Steelers broke away by scoring 21 straight points from late in the second quarter to early in the fourth.
