SEATTLE, April 9 /PRNewswire/ -- As the Seattle Mariners return to Safeco Field for their home opener on April 12, ING DIRECT USA announced today 1,000 more reasons to cheer for the Mariners in 2010.
Jose Lopez hit a key two-run double Sunday, leading the Seattle Mariners to a season-ending 4-3 win over the Texas Rangers. The hit gave the Mariners a 4-1 lead with two outs in the bottom of the fifth. Franklin Gutierrez had two hits and two RBI, and Josh Wilson had three hits for the Mariners, who
Taylor Teagarden singled in the go-ahead score during a three-run ninth Friday, bringing Texas a 7-4 victory over Seattle. The Rangers let an early 3-0 lead get away, but rallied to tie the game at 4-4 in the eighth on an RBI single by Michael Young and then got to Seattle closer David Aardsma in the ninth. Aardsma (3-6) retired the first two batters in the ninth, but Chris Davis and Esteban German then singled.
Doug Fister allowed a run over seven innings to end a three-start losing streak Thursday and boost the Seattle Mariners to a 4-2 win over Oakland. The Mariners won their third in a row. Fister (3-4) got off to a good start in his rookie season before running into problems during the last two weeks.
Josh Wilson put Seattle in front with a two-run triple in the eighth Thursday and Felix Hernandez struck out 11, helping the Mariners edge Toronto 5-4. Hernandez (17-5) added to his standing in the battle for the American League Cy Young Award by winning for the fifth time in six starts. He gave up all four Toronto runs, three of them on a sixth-inning homer by Vernon Wells, but picked up the victory when Wilson came through with his clutch hit in the eighth. David Aardsma walked the lead-off man in the ninth, then retired the next three batters for his 36th save. With Jesse Carlson (1-6) on the mound in the top of the eighth, Adrian Beltre reached on a one-out single and Bill Hall drew a walk.
