By Kim Barker, Chicago Tribune Mar. 26--KABUL, Afghanistan -- The potential death sentence for an Afghan man who converted from Islam to Christianity is perhaps the biggest crisis that the fledgling Afghan democracy has faced since the fall of the Taliban.

The Afghan newspaper Cheragh has accused former US envoy Zalmay Khalilzad of creating a Pashtun-dominated government, thus violating the constitution he helped to draft. It also says national unity is the best hope for the country's future.
