Denver International Airport had the longest wait times of all large U.S. airports during peak travel periods in the latest fiscal year. The number of times the wait to go through the metal detectors exceeded 30 minutes also skyrocketed, The Rocky Mountain News reported Monday.

WASHINGTON - Authorities at Denver International Airport plan to get 100 aircraft off the ground within an hour of opening two runways Friday afternoon and may be able to resume normal operations by the end of the holiday weekend, a Southwest Airlines executive said.
