Patrick Marleau's overtime goal Saturday lifted the San Jose Sharks to a 3-2 win over Anaheim in Game 5 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series. Marleau's game-winner at 6:02 of the extra stanza cut top-seeded San Jose's deficit against the eighth-seeded Ducks to 3-2 with Game 6 scheduled for Monday at Anaheim. Joe Thornton (power play) and Devin Setoguchi also scored goals.

A third-period goal by Peter Harrold made the difference Saturday in the Los Angeles Kings' 4-3 win over San Jose. Wayne Simmonds, Alexander Frolov and Michal Handzus also scored, and Jonathan Quick stopped 27 shots for the Kings (34-37-11), who will miss the playoffs. Devin Setoguchi, Joe Pavelski and Patrick Marleau scored, and Evgeni Nabokov gave up four goals on 24 shots for the Sharks (53-18-11) -- who, despite the loss, wrapped up the President's Trophy for best regular-season record in the NHL when Boston fell Saturday to Buffalo. Joe Pavelski's third-period power-play goal Saturday lifted the San Jose Sharks to a 3-2 win over the Phoenix Coyotes. Pavelski's 23rd goal this season broke a 2-2 at the 1:34 mark.

Greg Zanon finished off a three-goal Nashville outburst in the second period Thursday that rallied the Predators to a 3-2 victory over San Jose. Radek Bonk, Martin Erat and Zanon scored in a stretch of less than three minutes to overcome a 2-0 deficit and carry the Predators to a vital victory in their bid to make the playoffs. Nashville began the evening tied with Minnesota for ninth place in the Western Conference, one point behind Edmonton in the race for the last post-season berth. San Jose missed out on a chance to establish a franchise record for points in a season.
