By DAVID ROSS HIGHLAND CORRESPONDENT HOPES were rising last night that industrial action which had threatened to paralyse air travel throughout the Highlands and Islands later this week could be averted. A 24-hour strike planned for Friday has been suspended to allow negotiations to continue.
By JOHN ROSS SCHEDULED flights at nine airports across the Highlands and Islands are suspended today because of strike action over a pay dispute.
STRIKE action is to hit nine Scottish airports today, with 2000 passengers having flights cancelled because of a pay dispute involving firefighters. Scheduled flights will be suspended due to the action by members of the trade union Unite.
