THERE are a couple of musical treats coming up at Mugdock Country Park. The popular series of concert nights continues at the Bearsden park on November 28, when the Charlie Kilpatrick Band will present an evening of Scottish music. Then on December 5, Daniel Grimwood will play Franz Liszt.

A YOUNG artist has won a competition to encourage recycling in schools. Sarah Finlay, a P6 pupil from Balmuildy Primary in Bishopbriggs, won an East Dunbartonshire Council contest after designing a poster to encourage local schools to recycle.

By IAIN LUNDY THE central span of a new footbridge - shaped like the bow of a ship - has been lowered into place across the Forth and Clyde Canal. Itis the latest structure to be completed since the canal's rebirth and is poised to become a landmark in the regeneration of Kirkintilloch.
