Encore Acquisition Co. said Tuesday it would spend $17 million taking a stake in seven West Texas natural gas fields held by Exxon Mobil Corp. Encore, with expertise in horizontal drilling, will have the opportunity to earn 30 percent of Exxon Mobil's working interest in each well drilled.

By Jerry Shottenkirk Kerr-McGee has entered into an agreement to sell eight oil and natural gas properties in areas of Texas and Oklahoma to Encore Acquisition Co. of Fort Worth. The properties are in the Permian Basin of western Texas and in the Anadarko Basin here.
