By CAROLINE INNES RAIL passengers travelling between Liverpool and London face another day of frustration today after Network Rail failed to complete engineering work.

IT SOUNDS like the kind of ordeal that even Sir Ranulph Fiennes might think twice about: get the train from London Euston to Northampton, then catch a bus all the way to Birmingham, and finally transfer to another train to complete the journey to Liverpool.

RAIL services between Liverpool and London over Christmas will be hit by engineering work. No trains will run on Christmas Day and Boxing Day and there will be no direct services from December 27-30.
