By JASON BEATTIE THREE British soldiers were killed by a bomb dropped from a US warplane during fighting in Afghanistan, it was confirmed this afternoon. Two other men from 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment were injured in the friendly fire incident.

Text of report in English by Afghan independent Pajhwok news agency website Kabul/London, 24 August: Three British soldiers with NATO were killed and two others injured in a suspected friendly fire incident in restive southern Afghanistan, the UK Defence Ministry announced on Friday.

Pat Tillman's brother accused the military Tuesday of "intentional falsehoods" and "deliberate and careful misrepresentations" in portraying the football star's death in Afghanistan as the result of heroic engagement with the enemy instead of friendly fire.
