U.S. snack food maker Frito-Lay Inc. has announced plans to increase the weight in its packages. The Texas company had engaged in what are known as weight outs, reducing the amount of food in packages as a de facto price increase, The Dallas Morning News reported Tuesday.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says Frito-Lay Inc. and Kraft Foods Inc. are recalling pistachio nut products due to possible salmonella contamination. Frito-Lay announced the recall of 1.75-ounce Frito-Lay-brand in-shell salted pistachios with sell-by dates between 14-Jul-09 and 29-Dec-09.
HAVRE, Mont. - Frito-Lay Inc. says it will investigate a Havre man's "unsubstantiated claim" that he found a deep-fried mouse in a bag of barbecue potato chips. Jack Hines, a 66-year-old former laborer and contractor, said he was snacking on the chips Tuesday when he pulled out the crispy rodent.
